You are understandably concerned about the top of those posts, but how about the bottom of that "notch" It is the resting surface for the beam, and it might be deteriorated more than the top of the post, since water can stay trapped there. Consider inspecting the post with a pick there, to check if the bottom of the notch remains sturdy.
