Honestly, I was thinking the same thing when you mentioned it. I finally got around to trying that sourdough starter recipe you shared a few months back, and it actually turned out way better than I expected. I had to feed it twice a day for the first week, which got a little messy, but the texture and flavor ended up being really nice. My family kept asking why there was flour everywhere, but once they tasted the bread, nobody complained. I also tried adding a bit of honey and some rosemary on top for a twist, and it worked surprisingly well. We had it with some soup on Sunday and it was the perfect combo. Anyway, I just wanted to tell you it finally worked out after all those failed attempts. Let me know if you have any other recipes like that — I am definitely in the mood to try more now that I know this one succeeded.

I got your message about the hiking trail. I actually went there last weekend with a couple of friends and it was gorgeous. The weather was perfect, not too hot, and the trees were already starting to show some color. We took the longer loop that goes around the lake and stopped for a picnic about halfway through. There was a spot near the old wooden bridge where you could see the water reflecting the sky and it was really peaceful. I forgot to bring enough water, so we ended up sharing what we had, but it worked out fine. The trail was a little muddy in spots from the recent rain, but nothing too bad. We saw a deer on the way back, just standing there watching us. It stayed for a few minutes and then walked off into the trees. It was one of those days where everything felt calm and easy. Anyway, if you decide to go, I would recommend starting early to beat the crowds. We got there around 8 and had the trail mostly to ourselves until late morning. Let me know if you want the exact route we took.
