Yeah I have done that trail a few times now and it is really great for a day hike. The elevation gain is steady but not too steep so you do not get winded too quickly. You will want to start early because the parking lot fills up fast especially on weekends. I usually bring about two liters of water and some trail mix for energy. The views at the top are worth every step and there is a nice spot with a wooden bench where you can sit and take it all in. The trail is well marked with colored blazes so you will not get lost. If you go in the fall the leaves are stunning. I would recommend wearing sturdy shoes because some sections are rocky. The whole loop takes about three hours at a moderate pace. The weather should be good next weekend so that might be a good time to try it.

I think you would really enjoy this series overall. The character development gets stronger with each book and the world building is quite detailed. The author takes time to explain the magic system which I know you appreciate in fantasy stories. The pacing is good too with enough action to keep things moving but also quiet moments for character reflection. The third book is probably my favorite because of the way it ties together all the threads from the first two books. I would suggest reading them in order since there are callbacks to earlier events that make more sense that way. Let me borrow you my copy if you want I have the whole set in paperback. The writing style is smooth and easy to follow without being too simple. I think you will like the main character arc especially how she grows over the course of the series. The secondary characters are also well developed and add depth to the story. Let me know what you think after you read the first one.
