We finally decided on the venue for next fall. It's this old converted barn about an hour outside the city. They have these huge string lights and a stone patio overlooking a vineyard. The caterer they work with does an incredible paella station, which honestly sealed the deal for us. We're keeping the guest list tight, maybe around eighty people. Just immediate family and closest friends. I really want to avoid the whole stressful vibe of a massive wedding. We're doing a jazz trio for the cocktail hour and then a live band for the reception. My fiance is handling the playlist, which makes me a little nervous because his taste is all over the place, but I think it'll come together. We still need to figure out the flowers and the photographer.
It's a lot of logistics but exciting to see the pieces fall into place. Everyone keeps asking if I'm stressed but honestly I'm just ready for it to be here. The dress is hanging in the guest room and I peek at it every time I walk by. I hope the weather cooperates because I really want the ceremony to be outside under those big oak trees. Fingers crossed for a mild autumn.

I think I finally cracked the code on getting my dog to stop pulling on the leash. I switched to a front-clip harness and started doing this thing where I stop dead in my tracks the second the leash goes taut. He was so confused at first, kept looking back at me like 'why did we stop?' But now he's starting to get it. He checks in with me way more often on walks.
We're also working on the 'place' command with his bed. It's giving him a lot of structure, and I can tell he actually feels more relaxed when he knows what he's supposed to be doing. The trainer said consistency is key, so we're doing short sessions every day. It's been about two weeks and I can already see a huge difference. He's a rescue, so it took him a while to trust that I wasn't going to just give up on him. I'm really proud of the progress we've made together.
