We started mapping out the community garden plots last weekend and I think we finally have a decent layout for the raised beds near the fence line. The soil test showed slightly acidic conditions so we are planning to add lime in the northeast corner where the blueberries will go. For the shaded section under the maple tree we are leaning toward hostas and ferns rather than vegetables since the light levels are just too low for tomatoes or peppers. Several neighbors offered to help with the watering schedule which is great because the summer heat can be tough on new transplants. We still need to decide on the pathway material between beds.

For the book club meeting next month I was thinking we could rotate the location to Carol's place since she has that large living room with plenty of seating. We have eight people confirmed so far and three more who said maybe depending on their schedules. The current book we are reading has been getting mixed reactions from the group which always makes for a more interesting discussion in my opinion. I will bring the discussion questions I prepared and maybe we can decide on the next three titles to keep us on track through the spring season.
