Yeah I totally get what you mean about the raised beds. I built mine last spring with cedar planks and they've held up really well through two seasons of heavy rain. I lined the bottom with landscape fabric and then filled with a mix of topsoil and compost from the local nursery. The tomatoes went crazy this year — I had to stake them twice because they kept outgrowing the cages. My neighbor suggested adding a drip irrigation kit and honestly that was the best upgrade I've made. Just set it on a timer and forget about it. The herbs on the other hand were a bit finicky at first. I think I overwatered the basil and the mint tried to take over the whole box so I had to pull some out. Next year I want to try carrots and maybe some bell peppers if I can get the soil pH right. If you're thinking about building your own I'd say go for it just make sure you get the depth right for whatever you plan to grow. lQ127XzniPm Let me know if you want me to send you the plan I used — it's pretty straightforward and I have all the measurements saved.

I've been meaning to ask you about that hiking trail you mentioned last month. We finally took the drive up last weekend and it was absolutely worth the early start. The parking lot was already half full by 7:30 so I'm glad we left when we did. The first two miles are a steady climb through pine forest and then it opens up to this incredible ridge with views of the valley below. We packed sandwiches and sat on a big flat rock for lunch — the weather was perfect, cool breeze and no clouds. My dog came along too and she handled the elevation better than I did honestly. There's a waterfall about three miles in that most people miss because the side trail isn't marked well. You have to look for a cluster of mossy boulders and then follow the sound of the water. We nearly turned back but I'm so glad we didn't. The whole loop took us about five and a half hours with breaks. I'd say it's moderate difficulty — there are a few steep sections but nothing you need gear for. You should definitely put it on your list for this season before the snow starts. lQ127XzniPm Let me know when you want to go and I'll share the exact route we took.
