I finally got around to trying that new trail you mentioned last week. The incline was a bit steeper than expected, but the view from the top was completely worth it. I brought along those lightweight trekking poles you recommended, and they made a huge difference on the rocky sections. I definitely need to work on my endurance before tackling the longer route we talked about for next month. The weather held up perfectly, which was a nice surprise given the forecast. I packed way too much food, as usual, but it made for a great lunch break at the summit. Let me know if you want to borrow my spare gear for your next trip. I'm already looking out for new spots to explore this season. It is such a great way to reset over the weekend.

I spent the whole weekend working on that bookshelf design we discussed. I decided to go with the darker wood stain after all, and I think it will tie the room together nicely. The assembly was pretty straightforward, but I ran into a bit of trouble aligning the shelves perfectly. I had to sand down a couple of edges to get them to fit snugly. Have you worked with pine before? I'm thinking about applying a clear coat for extra protection, but I'm not sure which finish would be best for a piece that gets a lot of use. Let me know if you have any tips. I'm hoping to finish it by next weekend so I can finally organize all these books that are stacked on the floor. It has been a really fun project to work on in the evenings.
