Right, so about the community garden plot rotation for next spring, I think we should map out the raised beds differently this year. Last season the tomatoes shaded the basil completely by mid-July, and the chard never really recovered. What if we move the leafy greens to the east side where the morning light is gentler, and keep the root vegetables in the middle rows? I also want to try planting marigolds along the outer edges again. They really seemed to help with the aphids. For the compost, I can bring a few bags of shredded leaves from my yard, and maybe we can ask the library if they have spare cardboard for the lasagna layers. I remember someone mentioning a local farm that gives away aged manure in the spring. Could you check on that? Let me know your thoughts on the pathway width too. We might want to widen the center aisle so the wheelbarrow fits through without knocking over the stakes. And the rain barrel near the tool shed needs a new spigot, so we should add that to the maintenance list.

So you were asking about the best way to handle the shared studio calendar for the pottery group? I looked into it and I think moving to a simple shared spreadsheet would solve most of the scheduling conflicts we saw last month. Instead of the paper sign-up by the wheel, we could have a single view that everyone can update from their phone. Just add your name to a time slot and it locks automatically. I also think we should establish a rule that each person can hold no more than two evening slots per week, since a few of us couldn't find any open time after work. The kiln firing schedule should stay separate though, since that needs to be coordinated with glaze days. For the next meeting, maybe we can spend twenty minutes going over how to edit the sheet, then have a short demo on trimming bowls. It would also help to have a backup person for opening the studio on Saturday mornings. Last weekend nobody arrived with the key until almost ten.
