I was just telling my sister that I finally found a good recipe for zucchini bread, the one where you use olive oil instead of butter and add a little orange zest on top, it comes out so light and fresh every time. She said she tried something similar but hers got too soggy in the middle, probably because the loaf pan was too small and the batter sat too long before the oven finished preheating. So I told her to lower the rack one notch and sprinkle some oats on the bottom before pouring the batter in, that usually fixes the dense center problem for me anyway.

I got your note about the book club list and honestly I finished the first half of the novel already, the pacing is odd but the chapter in the greenhouse is worth it, the way it shifts from dialogue to that long description of rain on glass is really well done. I think we can skip the historical notes at the end though, or at least not assign them, because it bogs down the conversation and nobody really likes to read endnotes after a solid story anyway.
